About Me |
As a self proclaimed "makeup hustler", I have been playing with color since age 16 when I first saw Kevyn Aucoin's Making Faces. I would stay up nights reading and re-reading the book, absorbing his techniques, and of course drooling over the pictures. I practiced on myself and eventually on my loving little sister, who was always willing to endure my never ending imagination.
Finally, around my junior year of high school, I started making the faces of girlfriends and classmates. With the never-ending parade of high school dances, neighborhood proms and sweet sixteens, I was in heaven! There was no denying it: I was in love with makeup! I chose the freelance route, and skipped makeup school altogether. The risks and all the excitement that came along with them were all enough to keep my cosmetic dreams on fire. Trial and error are a beginning makeup artist's best friend! My artistry grew with every new client, photo-shoot and project. The excitement that comes from a slight flick of the wrist or a change in lip color is inspiring: new personas are made and old confidences are resurfaced, all through imagination and color.
I love collaborating with others: artists, models, photographers, designers, event planners and of course the everyday woman. I started with "Making Faces" and drugstore makeup, and have evolved into new mediums, such as airbrushing, and through it all, my evolution as an artist is something that I now realize will never end, and I could never imagine doing anything else! |
